July 22

Today Mom, Reid and I went to Babies R Us to get a G diapers for Betsy & Coti and a bath sponge for you Reid. I really wanted to find a simple calendar to record daily events of Reid's first year, so we looked at AC Moore, Michael's and Target for one, but I ended up getting a journal instead. It's really going to be neat to write little tid bits about Reid and be able to remember those precious moments and milestones in the future. Since we were around the corner from Steve (and I needed to get gas) we visited him at work on his lunch break. He showed Reid off to his coworkers, who all thought he was a cute baby and we enjoyed a mid afternoon hug and kiss. After gassing up the car we went home and Reid let me know all the way home that he was VERY hungry. It's funny, before I had him, I never thought that I would smile/laugh and his crying. Don't get me wrong, I don't like it when he is sad, but some of the noises he is starting to make are just so darn cute! ,I ate lunch while I was feeding Reid. It's amazing how well you can multi task once you become a Mommy. After lunch we went to Joanns to get fabric to make a wet bag for Betsy and a changing table cover for me.Reid slept in his Ergo carrier the whole time and did really well. Mom and I managed to sew the wet bag and enjoyed some cake together. I made Steak and fries for dinner. Carole Powell visited and met Reid for the first time and gave me a necklace she made and a gift card for Reid. We had a great evening and Reid was awake for a lot of it. Steve and I just stared at his cute face and adored him for quite a while on the couch. He took a little nap, and then ate before bed and slept for....7 hours and 14 minutes!! Boy did that feel great! It's amazing how much more human you feel when you sleep uninterrupted.

what a weekend

Boy did we pack in a lot of activity this weekend! Steve's friend Andrew from college came Friday evening to see us and meet Reid. It was nice to catch up with him. We went to our Friday night group where everyone ooohed and aahhhed over Reid and said he is perfect. Saturday morning we went up to camp to visit Mimi & Papa before they left to go back to NH. I hung Reid's diapers up to bleach in the sun. Reid went for his first boat ride to Pig & Sow, all the while sleeping in his Ergo. He didn't sleep much all day...it was a really really hot day, so I think that had something to do with it. Also he wanted to eat once an hour! Talk about tiring....must be his 3 week growth spurt. We hung out at camp until about 4 and went up town to Starbucks and the Gap...where I ended up feeding Reid again...so interesting. We went home and ate mac n cheese and hot dogs for dinner. Andrew left around 9pm to head home and Steve and I brought Reid upstairs and we watched Hitch and said goodnight. Sunday morning, while Reid was napping, we cleaned the cars. It was nice to do a normal activity and BOY were they DIRTY!! Uncle Peter & Aunt Annette came around 11am to visit and meet Reid. It was nice to see them and talk. Reid was hungry so I fed him and then he was much happier to see Uncle Peter and Aunt Annette. After they left we ate lunch and enjoyed a relaxing afternoon until Mom and Dad came at 4pm to baby sit Reid for the first time! Steve and I got to go on a date!! It was a little strange to leave Reid, but I wasn't worried at all. He took a bottle from Steve on Saturday evening, so I knew that he would be fine. Steve and I really enjoyed eating dinner at Rira's and sitting on the eastern prom. It was a BEAUTIFUL evening, the sun was warm but there was a nice breeze blowing so we didn't boil. We sat on a bench and talked and enjoyed the view. When we got home (gone for 2.5 hours) Reid was taking a little bit more bottle from Mom and Dad. The cutest part was that he reacted to Steve and I coming home. I said hi to him as Dad was holding him and he looked right at me...when I moved away he screamed at me like he was saying, "why are you moving away mom?". It was cute! Steve said hi and he did stared at him too. I fed him and then Mom made strawberry shortcake for dessert. It was a great night!

an outing

Reid and I accomplished a lot and conquered the grocery list today. I was a little nervous to bring him out by myself with a task. Up until today I had just brought him for fun things like walks. He did wonderfully though, sleeping in his ergo the whole time. I loved that both of my hands were free to shop. It only took about an hour and we got home just in time for Reid to eat his lunch. He only told me for a little while in the car that he was hungry :o) I am getting used to being a Mommy, although it hasn't fully set in quite yet. I love my little man.

Hello internet people...

Well, I figure this will be a great way to keep track of fun stories, milestones and random thoughts I have about our new family. I will also be sharing 1 picture (or more) a day for Reid's first year...this should be fun!! So I will try and do some catch up posts to start at Reid's birthday..almost 3 weeks ago. I can't believe he is almost 3 weeks old, time sure does go quickly and I don't want to miss any of it. Thank you Lord for our new blessing.
